Spring Baby Boom at the Park

Date Published: September 24, 2026

From koala joeys to emu chicks to a cheeky little wombat, the Park's newest arrivals are making this the most adorable time of year to visit.

There is nothing quite like spring at the Australian Reptile Park. As the temperatures climb and the native bush comes back to life, so too does the nursery. This year's spring baby boom has arrived in full force, with joeys and chicks popping up right across the Park.

The newcomers include three eight-month-old koala joeys, who can now be spotted venturing out to explore their yard alongside their mums, making their first confident steps into the world around them.

Sunny the wombat joey and Pixie the Parma wallaby joey are also keeping the team well and truly on their toes. Both youngsters are currently being hand-raised by the keepers, receiving the round-the-clock attention their age demands.

"Springtime is joey time here at the Australian Reptile Park and it's our absolute favourite time of the year because it's when we get to share all these incredible little animals with everyone," said Brandon Gifford, Operations Manager.

While Brandon insists the team does not play favourites, one little arrival has captured a special place in his heart.

"We're not supposed to have favourites, but I definitely have a little soft spot for Sunny the wombat joey. He is cheeky as all get-up and certainly keeps the team on their toes," said Brandon.

The spring arrivals do not stop there. A Tasmanian devil joey named Crash has joined the Park from Aussie Ark, the Australian Reptile Park's sister conservation organisation, and has settled in beautifully. Three fluffy emu chicks are now on display, full of the curious, wide-eyed energy that makes them impossible to walk past without stopping. And across the park, kangaroo joeys are starting to poke their little heads out of their mothers' pouches as the warmer weather coaxes them out into the world.
